Actress Madhoo, who gained recognition in Bollywood with Mani Ratnam's "Roja" in 1992, now wants the filmmaker to make "Roja 2".

"I would really love to be a part of Mani Ratnam sir's film again only because it was his film that gave me the recognition that is still hands on to me, " the 40-year-old said in an interview.

"I know that he understand me and I understand him and I am still hoping that he makes 'Roja 2', " she added.

At the same time Madhoo confesses to be a fan of Karan Johar-type of cinema too.

"I love Karan Johar type of movies because particularly he makes relationship-oriented films, all his films are based on relationships and of course, he make them pretty with clothes and great locations and I would love to be a part of his films, " said Madhoo who is doing a cameo in a children's film "Tomchi".

She states that she is scared to take her daugthers along to watch films being made today.

"I love children films. I love animation and that is why I am a part of this movie ('Tomchi'). I wanted to be part of children movie so I can take my children and their school friends and happily show them a film without kisses and bikini, " said the actress who debuted in Bollywood with "Phool Aur Kaante" in 1991.

"It's very scary...I want to keep my children little bit away from a few things, " she added.

Actress Madhoo, who has done some memorable roles in "Roja", "Diljale" and "Phool Aur Kaante", among others, is now set to turn to direction.

"Yes, I do have certain ideas to get into direction. I am working on it more seriously. I am waiting for the right time because I want to do some good work as an actor this year. My next step for sure is direction," Madhoo told.

"Right now I am open to get some lovely roles. Direction won't be this year. But it should certainly be by next year, 2013. Right now I am doing a children's film called 'Tomchi'. I am doing a guest appearance in the film," she added.

The actress, who worked in southern films, would like to direct a Hindi film, "but in what scale the film will be launched, I need to give a thought on that."

Married to industrialist Anand Shah, Madhoo is a mother of two daughters.

The actress says she takes inspiration from her aunt, Hema Malini, adding: "Hema Malini is a wonderful human being. She is indeed my inspiration and I have great respect for her. But I have my own ideas and thoughts to get into direction."

She was last seen in Hema's directorial venture "Tell Me O Kkhuda".

After a few recent cameos, Madhoo says she is finally ready for bigger roles in films

Her last big film was Diljale, way back in 1996, but Madhoo has kept herself busy doing cameos in several Bollywood films. The actress will now be seen in another cameo in Rajesh Gupta’s upcoming film.

The actress says, “There have been offers in the past but I always avoid them saying, ‘Not available’. However, I must say that filmmaker Rajesh Gupta was persistent. It was that one quality that I liked.

When I finally agreed to meet him, he had come so well prepared with a specially created promo for me. Plus it is a children’s film and I love kids. So I immediately agreed to do the film and now I am once again back on the sets.”

Madhoo, who did a couple of films last year, says that she is now open to do more films. She says, “I am not on a sabbatical and I am at a phase where I want to do good meaningful work.

When I left the industry I had pretty much made sure that I would not do films anymore. But now that I am back, I have not made any announcement.”

She adds, “My priorities are my children but thankfully for me I stay in a joint family and they pretty much look after them. I think — once an actor, always an actor!”
