Salman's Ek Tha Tiger won't affect Gangs of Wasseypur Part II: Reema

"Gangs Of Wasseypur Part II" is releasing a week before Salman Khan-starrer "Ek Tha Tiger", but actress Reema Sen is positive about the real life gang war drama's box office performance.

"Had the first part not come before, it would have affected because Salman is a great actor you can't deny that, " Reema told.

"I am sure it will affect a little. But there are films like 'Shaitan' and 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' doing well. I think at the end of the day, the script matters, " she said.

Reema thanks Vidya for making curves trendy

Reema thanks Vidya for making curves trendy
Southern actress Reema Sen is "amazed" at viewers response to her role of sensuous Durga, Manoj Bajpayee's second wife in "Gangs of Wasseypur", and thanks Vidya Balan for making curves trendy.

"I never thought that people will be so ga ga over the character. People have found a cotton sari and a quarter second back shot so sexy - I am amazed," Reema told.

Directed by Anurag Kashyap, crime thriller "Gangs of Wasseypur" has strong women characters portrayed by Reeam, Richa Chaddha and Huma Qureshi.

"Anurag had told me that people were going to go crazy over my character but I never expected this," added the actress attributing her success to Vidya.

"Had it not come after 'The Dirty Picture', people would have said I looked fat. She (Vidya) has made voluptuous look sexy and I really need to thank her," she said.

Describing size zero concept as an "obnoxious trend", she doesn't think skinny bodies make one look sexy.

"Everyone is so crazy over the size zero concept. I don't think fat is sexy but being skinny is not that great either. It's like their bodies are all the same and without seeing the face you don't know who it is. This is an obnoxious trend where people are anorexic and they try to look sexy, she said.
After doing a few Hindi films, Reema is very particular about the roles which she does in Bollywood.

"As long as I don't get something nice, I am not ready to do it. After 'Malamaal Weekly' also it took me sometime to sign my next film. Since I have the luxury of doing southern films, I don't feel I am sitting at home doing nothing," she said.

She feels for good roles she is dependent upon a director's vision.

"I always feel that an actor is very helpless when it comes to roles. You are totally dependent on the director. Anurag came up with something so different. Nobody has seen me like this before. I need a good director to come and give me a good role, I cannot create roles for myself," she said.

The actress says she is a "commercial person" and that after 'Gangs..' "people called me up and offered me women-centric films but I refused".

"At the end of the day, it is entertainment which is the most important factor. If you can entertain and tell a story or pass on a message, then it is great."

`Gangs of Wasseypur`s entire team abused me`
Reema Sen on why she didn't feature in the promotions of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' and life after marriage

Reema Sen is back to Bollywood after a gap of two years and is currently soaking in all the attention that’s coming her way post Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur. And while the actress was conspicuous in her absence during the film’s promotions, Reema says it was because she was away honeymooning with her husband.

The 30-year-old actress married Delhi-based businessman Shiv Karan Singh, earlier in March this year. She laughs as she says, “I could not be there for the promotions as I was on my vacation and my entire team was abusing me for it.”

In fact, for the film’s screening at the annual Cannes Film Festival this year, the actress said she had to postpone her honeymoon once.

Gangs of Wasseypur could have been a dark film, but the cast and crew had some rather light-hearted moments during the shoot. Reema recalls one such incident where she accidentally hit Manoj Bajpai.

She says, “There was this scene in the film where I had to slap Manoj and I accidentally hit him. Later, he laughed and told me, ‘God bless your husband!’ It was really nice to work with actors like him and Tigmanshu Dhulia.”

Currently, Reema is enjoying her newly married status and was thrilled when her husband sent her a bouquet of roses and a bunch of balloons after watching her latest film.

“Life’s not changed drastically after marriage. I am enjoying the Delhi culture. Gangs took a lot of my time and that’s the reason why I was not visible on screen. There’s no stopping me from doing more films, ” she signs off.
