Has lady luck deserted Rajkumar Santoshi?

The filmmaker's attempt to revive 'Ladies and Gentlemen' falls flat once again

Post his last film Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, it looks like Lady Luck has deserted Rajkumar Santoshi. Every attempt that the director has made towards a new film has come to nothing. The latest is that his film Ladies and Gentlemen has been pushed to the backburner once again.

Likewise, Santoshi’s last project to be announced, Power, was also shelved due to date problems of the star cast that included Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt.

Post that, Santoshi planned Ladies and Gentleman with Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, but that too didn’t take off, thanks to Ash’s pregnancy. Later, he tried to sign on Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor for the same, but that too didn’t happen due to ego hassles.

There were even talks of Santoshi again approaching Abhishek for the film, but the filmmaker rubbishes the claim and states, “Not true!” Finally, Santoshi made a last-ditch attempt again to revive his film, approaching the Vicky Donor couple, Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam.

He tells us, “I was in talks with Ayushmann but things didn’t materalise.” Speaking to us from United States, he says, “There were also talks about me turning producer, which are also absolutely false. I’ll be back from US in sometime and will start work on my films.”
