Will Abhishek be the new angry young man?

Posted by Unknown Rabu, 11 Juli 2012 0 komentar

Post the release of 'Bol Bachchan', Ekta Kapoor keen to give Abhishek Bachchan the image that became synonymous with his father

Abhishek Bachchan may not exactly be known for his out-and-out action image, but apparently Ekta Kapoor is planning to add a whole new dimension to the actor. Jr B may soon become the new ‘angry young man’.

Ekta is said to be working on making a hardcore raw action film around the actor, and Rajat Arora is believed to have written the script.

Our source informs, “Ekta wants Abhishek to be the angry young man. Amitabh Bachchan ruled the industry for decades as the angry young man and Ekta wants Abhishek to carry forward the legacy.

She wants Rajat to do the job that Salim-Javed did for Amitabh Bachchan. In fact, post his recent release, Ekta feels that now is the time for Abhishek to aim higher. They chatted for over an hour.”

Ekta will soon lock on the director for the project. The film is said to go on floors before the end of the year. Ekta Kapoor remained unavailable for comment.

Movie Review: Bol Bachchan falls short of expectations

Bol Bachchan falls short of expectations
Cast: Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin, Prachi Desai, Krushna Abhishek, Archana Puran Singh, Asrani, Neeraj Vora

Direction: Rohit Shetty

Rating: **1/2

Amid a flurry of speculations and apprehensions about its being an eligible entrant for 100 Cr club of cine flicks. Finally Rohit Shetty's Bol Bachchan strikes the celluloid this Friday. The movie featuring Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Prachi Desai and reportedly inspired from cult classic Golmaal opened with an occupancy of around 50 % at the multiplexes.

Synopsis:
Bol Bachchan is a story about a humble guy who after loosing all his hope of survival in a metropolitan city, migrates to a small village and has a rendezvous with the the manoeuvre of destiny, which lands him in a situation where he conceal his one lie from his master by draping it in the cloak of other lie, leading to hilarious circumstances.

Story:
Abaas (Abhishek) and Sania (Asin) after loosing their parents patronage struggles very hard to make the both ends meet. Viewing the drowning financial conditions of Abbas one of his well wishers, Shastri [Asrani] advises Abbas to migrate to his native village in Ranakpur, and also ensures him about getting him job at native landlord Prithviraj Raghuvanshi's (Ajay Devgn) place.

As soon as the Abbas arrives at Ranakpur along with his sister Sania, destiny opens its Pandora's box for him, where Abbas accidentally falls prey to an indistinct situation which makes him lie about his identity in front of villagers and especially Prithviraj Raghuvanshi who has a disdain for lie.

This suddenly erupted situation brings an important twist in Abbas's life, who is hired by Raghuvanshi as as a supervisor, but as the frames proceed, Abbas constantly has tryst with the circumstances where he has to drape his prior lie with a new cloak of lie in front of his lie-hater boss.

With story rolling ahead Abbas begets his fictitious identical brother, an impersonating mother (Archana Puran Singh) leading to a volley of humorous situation.

Script:
Post the release of Bol Bachchan, finally the reasons behind Rohit Shetty's obtaining the rights of cult classic Golmaal have become quite conspicuous.

Through out the pre-release period it was constantly said, that Bol Bachchan is inspired from Golmaal but actually it won't be wrong to say that Bol Bachchan is the reincarnation of Amol Palekar's landmark cine flick.

With majority of sequences and components identical to Golmaal (except the characters) the script of the movie seems quite weak and monotonous. With the constant prevalence of high predictability, curiosity never seemed leading from the front. In nut shell script of Bol Bachchan thoroughly lacks the innovation and novelty.

Dialogues and USP:
Prior to release Ajay's witty one liners were considered as the USP of the movie but, going by the facts even Ajay's witty one liner's could not succeed in doing any miracle for already crumbling script. As far as dialogues are concerned then their predictability is so high that at times it takes a shape of monotony even for die hard Rohit Shetty fans.

Screenplay and Direction:
After watching the previous cine flicks like Singham, and Golmaal triology of Shetty- Devgn duo, fans may get disappointed by Bol Bachchan because the slow pace of the story in the first half of the movie looked completely contrary to Shetty's signature style of cinematography.

Camera consistency and cutting edge sequential shifts somehow manage to keep the fan's gaze glued on the screen. As far as direction is concerned, then after delivering a volley of hits and setting up remarkable benchmarks, this time Rohit failed in making people under stand his Bol Bachchan, because in spite of his exceptional dexterity in direction excess dose of drama succeeded in confining the performances of his celluloid sorcerers.

After slow start in the second half movie takes cine fans for roller coaster ride, but that to for a very short span of time ultimately succumbing to dull climax.

In addition to it another reason which completely marred the potential of the movie is protagonists constant struggle to mouth the regional dialect and portraying the regional persona.

Acting:
As compared to the hype created about the movie the performances delivered in the Bol Bachchan, are also full of surprises where fans will may get dis-hearted, because of the absence of performances they expected from the star cast of the movie.

In the movie it's only Ajay who somewhat succeeded in meeting the expectations of the fans, by his quick witted one liners, as a typically Rajasthani rajput.

As Prithviraj Raghuvanshi Ajay once again succeeded in making fans laugh, but the the only thing which impacted his performance a bit is his constant struggle with rajasthani dialect. Abhishek once again tried his level best to please leave fans mesmerised by his acting skills, but completely failed in doing so, from the very first frame, Abhishek constantly struggled to get into the skin of his role but couldn't do it with utmost excellence, leading to the exhibition of a an average performance.

Being a movie knitted around the male protagonists, movie's female leads Asin and Prachi Desai didn't have much to do, but whatever share of performances they had was quite fare as compared to the other supporting cast.

On his debut flick Krishna looked clearly confined in his stand-up comedian persona, with no quality punches to offer on the celluloid. In the item song Big- B seemed at his best with leaving no scope for shortcomings.

Music:
In music department Himesh Reshamia and Ajay-Atul could not offer any thing innovative or soothing, tracks Chalao Na Nain' and the title track filmed on Sr Bachchan and the principal leads are the pick of the lot, but all in all the music and background score of Bol Bachchan fell short of the expectations of cine buffs.

BO Potential:
After so much hype about it Bol Bachchan completely fails in delivering what fans expected from Rohit Shetty. Not negating the the possibilities, Bol Bachchan may pick up on weekend, especially because of the cinematography notions prevailing about Devgn- Shetty duo followed by a steady fall in its BO collection in days ahead. And as far as it's entering in 100 Cr club is concerned then Bol Bachchan is expected to fall short of that too.

Verdict:
To sum up, knitted on the lines of cult classic Golmaal, Bol Bachchan is an average entertainer with an ok quantity of humor and an imposed dose of action. A perfect one time watch to entertain oneself.

Bol Bachchan: Bollywood ga-ga over Abhishek's comedy

Bol Bachchan: Bollywood ga-ga over Abhishek`s comedy
Abhishek Bachchan has wowed film fraternity with his rib-tickling performance in "Bol Bachchan" - Kunal Kohli said he is "phenomenal" in the movie, while Ashutosh Gowariker found him "outstanding".

Rohit Shetty's "Bol Bachchan" was screened for Bollywood Thursday. The guest liked the slapstick comedy as well as Ajay Devgn and others performances, but Abhishek impressed them the most. The film has hit screens Friday.

This is what they have to say:

Kunal Kohli: It was absolutely hilarious. I think Rohit Shetty and team have done an outstanding job. Abhishek is phenomenal, Ajay is also fantastic. Everyone has done a great job. I was laughing so much, my jaws are still hurting.

Ashutosh Gowariker: Very good, a riotous film, very funny. I think Ajay and Abhishek are brilliant in the film. The entire cast is brilliant but I found Abhishek outstanding.

Suniel Shetty: Mind blowing! Abhishek's best performance. Abhishek at his best and I was reminded of Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) in his young days. Ajay is also fantastic. The whole film is outstanding and according to me, it should be the year's biggest grosser. I don't believe in Rs.100 crore or Rs.200 crore, but it is a true entertainer.

Prakash Jha: It's sheer madness, lovely, brilliant film. He (Rohit Shetty) has surpassed his "Golmaal".

Meanwhile, Abhishek is overwhelmed with the response.

"So far the response has been fantastic. You can see I am smiling. I am very, very happy that initial screenings have gone well. The audience will watch it now and fingers crossed," the 36-year-old said at the screening.

When told that his work is being appreciated the most, Abhishek said: "Thank you for saying this. I hope the audience also loves it. Everyone has worked hard and it feels great when you ask such questions."

The film also stars Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.

'Bol Bachchan' offers loads of humorous, fun

Posted by Unknown Kamis, 05 Juli 2012 0 komentar

Rib-tickling scenes, funny dialogues and Ajay Devgn's witty one-liners - Rohit Shetty's "Bol Bachchan" offers all this and promises much more entertainment when it hits the screens Friday.

After churning out films like "Golmaal", "Golmaal Returns", "Golmaal 3" and "Singham", once again Shetty's is ready to take audience on another laughter ride with "Bol Bachchan".

Said to be inspired by 1979 movie "Gol Maal", the film has Abhishek Bachchan, Asin Thottumkal, and Prachi Desai in the female leads.

The story revolves around Abbas Ali (Abhishek), a resident of Karol Bagh, New Delhi. He stays there with his sister Sania (Asin) and they are legally fighting to get the title of their ancestral property.

But the odds turn against them and they lose the case. Their well-wisher, Shastri Chacha, advises and convinces them to migrate to his village Ranakpur and assures Abbas that he will get him a job at his owner's place. The owner being none other than the powerful Prithviraj Raghuvanshi (Ajay).

In Ranakpur, while saving a child trapped inside a temple, Abbas breaks open the lock of an ancestral temple. It upsets the villagers and they are up in arm against Abbas, but Prithviraj arrives at the scene and bails Abbas out.

On being asked his name, Abbas's friend comes out with a fake name because he knew that the villagers will be outraged if they will find out that the lock of the temple has been broken by a Muslim guy.

From here starts a series of cover-ups, goof-ups and comic situations where to cover one lie, Abbas pads it up with a bigger lie that he has a twin brother with no moustache. This leads to topsy-turvy journey of a single person acting as two different entities.

"Bol Bachchan" has been co-produced by Dhillin Mehta and Ajay.

Shetty has roped in megastar Amitabh Bachchan for promotional song "Bol Bol Bachchan". In the song, the 69-year-old recreated the iconic song "My name is Anthony Gonsalves" and pops out of a life-sized egg.

'Who cares about critics?'

`Who cares about critics?`
Rohit Shetty on making films without Ajay Devgn and not letting success go to his head

He is not called Mr Blockbuster for nothing. His comic Midas touch has worked on film after film. Rohit Shetty doesn’t take it too seriously though. He won’t let success go to his head, he says.

Now all set to show his Ajay Devgn starrer and to roll his first film without good friend Ajay Devgn, Shetty talks about working with Shah Rukh Khan for the first time and what exactly he thinks about film critics…

People in the industry have given you the tag of Mr Blockbuster. How seriously do you take the tag?
I am not taking it very seriously and I have no clue how it started but obviously you feel good. At first, it did not sink in. These tags come with a big responsibility and bring in a different kind of pressure.

How do you manage to let success not go to your head?
I have friends in the industry who are very honest and give me a reality check. I know that nothing is permanent and one Friday can change everything. There are many people behind my success and I will never forget them.

The critics love to hate you...
Who cares about critics. I guess they don’t like my cinema. That’s okay. God has given me so much and the audience is more important to me than getting the stars.

I have never claimed that I am making a National Award winning film, so I wonder what wrong am I doing? When I am clear that I am making an entertaining commercial film, then why do critics have an opinion about it as if it were an intellectual film?

You are probably one of the few successful directors who have not turned a producer.

If everyone becomes a producer, how will the industry function? These days the stakes are extremely high. I have the pressure of two R 100 crore films behind me; so why add the pressure of becoming a producer?

Many producers want to sign you on for their banners and even offer huge money. But you haen’t given in. Do you not get tempted?
Hota hai. I am also a human being but I am from the film industry and I know how it functions. It’s a long journey and I have just started out. I don’t want to spend myself in one go.

You bought the rights of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Golmaal for your upcoming film...
I just wanted to be honest. It would have been easy for me to say that my film is not based on Golmaal and I could have easily fought it out. But I took the rights as the basic plot is inspired from the film.

After eight films with Ajay, you are making a romantic film with SRK...

Yes, I have never done a romantic film before but this has the Rohit Shetty-mark on it. Shah Rukh is a fab producer and I am in the process of starting the film soon.

Was Ajay okay with your decision to make a film with his rival SRK?
When I told Ajay that I was doing Chennai Express with SRK, he said, ‘superb’. Neither of them asks me anything about each other and I sometimes wonder why people say these things about them. They are both mature people, who have huge empires and they have so much work to do.

Pakodas and chutney with Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan!

Movie promotions in Bollywood are reaching new levels every year. Another glaring example of this is the latest strategy being adopted by Rathi Group of Cinemas, which owns a chain of single-screen cinema halls across central India.

For the release of Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan this week, featuring Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin, Prachi Desai and a special title track featuring Amitabh Bachchan, the group’s director Akshaye Rathi has come up with a unique promotional concept.

The film features Ajay Devgn as a pehalwaan (strongman) from Rajasthan. Bringing in novelty to promotions at the onset of monsoons, Rathi has called in Rajasthani chefs who would be preparing moong dal ke pakode with pudina chutney, mirchi ke bade (a delicacy from Jodhpur) and kullad ki adrak waali chai.

“These will be served to the audience during the run of the film, ” informs the group’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar. “Serving these dishes which are enjoyed most during the rains, could make

'I am earning money for Aaradhya now'

Having been blessed with a daughter in November last year, doting father Abhishek Bachchan says he is thrilled that little 'Aaradhya' is the focus of everyone's attention

"Right now Aaradhya is focus of everybody's attention. Everybody is fascinated with her. She is little and innocent and everybody wants to be with her. Everyone wants to spend time with her," Abhishek said.

The Bachchans have been fiercely guarding the latest member of their family ever since Aishwarya gave birth to the baby girl on November 16 last year.

Ask him if there is any change in his life after becoming a father, Abhishek says, "I don't know how life changes. There is no rule book as such. You just do what you feel is right. Each parent will discover things themselves. The responsibilities have increased."

"You are willing to do anything for her. I am earning money for her so that I can give her good education and a good upbringing," he said.

Meanwhile, Abhishek is gearing up for his upcoming release 'Bol Bachchan', directed by Rohit Shetty. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Asin and Prachi Desai. Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan features in the title song of the film, where he will be seen shaking a leg with Abhishek and Ajay Devgn.

Abhishek to do a cameo in Ayushmann`s film
Bachchan Jr to do a cameo in Rohan Sippy's next film; Bhushan Kumar joins as co-producer

Rohan Sippy is all set to begin the production of his next film, a comedy, in July. The yet untitled film co-produced by Bhushan Kumar, stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Kunal Roy Kapoor. Abhishek Bachchan will be seen in a cameo. This will also be the first time that Bhushan Kumar and Ramesh Sippy join hands to co-produce a film.

As reported ‘Next move’ (Hitlist, May 31) Rohan took on Ayushmann after seeing his performance in Vicky Donor. On the other hand, Rohan had worked with Kunal Roy Kapoor as he directed a film for him earlier.

Says Rohan, “I realised that Kunal has great potential as an actor and that’s why we got him on board as well. Ayushmann and Kunal are new age actors who have a definite connect with today’s audience.”

He further adds, “We have done many films with Bhushan Kumar and he is an extremely passionate producer. It is amazing to see the kind of clout he enjoys in the industry, but in spite of that, he has the passion to make those kinds of films that he believes in.”

Speaking about Abhishek’s cameo Rohan says, “He is my goodluck charm and he is doing a cameo. We are trying to shoot before he starts shooting for his upcoming action flick.”

Meanwhile, Bhushan Kumar stresses that he has always wanted to work with people who have a good sense of music and Rohan Sippy is surely one of them. Bhushan says, “Rohan is one director who has a great sense of music. The experience of working on Dum Maro Dum with him was great. And even now, he has given me a lot of freedom to get involved in the music of this film.”

'I have been given too much due'

Posted by Unknown Kamis, 28 Juni 2012 0 komentar
`I have been given too much due`
Reviewing his last 12 years' work, Abhishek Bachchan feels people have been over-generous and have given him much more credit than he deserves.

"I think people think I am a much better actor than I actually am. I think I have a lot more to do and improve. I think people are too kind to me," Abhishek told.

"I am very harsh on myself. An actor is always his worst critic. I feel I have been given too much due and I am not shamming by saying this. I genuinely believe that, I feel I have a lot more to do and learn," he added.

Junior B made his debut with J.P. Dutta's "Refugee" in 2000 - which got an iffy reception. Since then, he has seen ups and downs in his career with hits like "Bunty Aur Babli" and "Sarkar" and flops like "Kuch Naa Kaho", "Bas Itna Sa Khwaab hai" and "Players".

Abhishek goes by only one parameter while selecting his roles.

"Be it the biggest director or be it a very good script, but if my heart is not with it, I will not do it," he added.

The actor, who turned 36 this year, is right now looking forward to the release of "Bol Bachchan", which is coming out July 6.

Describing his experience, he says matching up to the required "energy level" and "style" of comedy in "Bol Bachchan" has been an "exhausting" task for him.

"Everything was a challenge. I thought it will be an easy film to do but it turned out to be the most difficult film of my career. I have done some difficult films in the past as well. But this film was exhausting to do. My misconception was that it is a comedy film, so it will be a holiday, but it wasn't one. I worked very hard for it," he said.

Loosely based on 1979 film "Golmaal", the cast of "Bol Bachchan" also features Ajay Devgn, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.

This was not Abhishek's first comedy. He tickled the audience's funny bones with "Dostana", but says that his "style of comedy is different" from what the film required.

"And that is what they (Ajay Devgn and director Rohit Shetty) taught me. They taught me the kind of comedy that was required for the film," he added.

"In terms of energy levels, it was very tough. It took about a week for me to adjust in the new style of comedy. The first week of filming was tough.

I came on the sets to do my part in a particular way. Rohit had a different idea and it took a week for me to achieve that. But full credit to Rohit, he did not give me up on me and after the pack-up, he used to tutor me. I hope I have got it right," said the actor.

The most important thing for an actor is to achieve a comfort zone with his co-stars and director, says Abhishek who also worked with Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn in "Zameen".

"According to me, an actor has to have implicit faith and trust in his director. As an actor, he pairs his soul with the director. I knew Rohit since the time he was an assistant director and I was a production assistant.

"Ajay is like an elder brother to me; so there is a huge amount of faith for him. I think that is what clicked. He is the most supportive co-star I have ever worked with," he said.

Each parent discovers things themselves: Abhishek

Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who is married to Aishwarya Rai, became a father in November last year. He says he is still unsure how his life has changed after the arrival of his daughter Aaradhya.

"It is like there is another person for whom you are willing to do anything. Your responsibilities are there, but I don't know how life changes," Abhishek said.

"There is no rulebook and you just do what you feel is right. Each parent will discover things themselves," added the 36-year-old.

Abhishek charms Dancing Mums and is Geeta Kapoor a 'Gol-Maal'

Abhishek charms Dancing Mums and is Geeta Kapoor a `Gol-Maal`
When actor Abhishek Bachchan landed up on the sets of DID L’il Masters to promote his upcoming film Bol Bachchan, he knew he’d be called upon to perform a jig with the kids of the dance reality show.

So when young Shreya Acharya from Manipal insisted that Abhishek joins the kids up on stage to shake a leg to Kajrare Kajrare, her favourite track, the smart cookie that he is, he had already figured out an intelligent way to avoid dancing alongside these l’il powerhouses of talent who’d send him running for his money.

He said, “Guys, I will dance … sure! But on one condition, I want not just the kids, but their mothers to join me up on stage for the act.”

In one swift stroke, he cleverly achieved two things – one, he smoothly brushed aside any chance of looking pale in contrast to the young movers and shakers … and secondly, he managed to put a big smile on the faces of the pretty young mums who were only too thrilled to be matching steps with their heartthrob.

Abhishek was accompanied by members of his Bol Bachchan team during this visit – Ajay Devgan and director Rohit Shetty.

There was a easy camaraderie and a lot of good-natured leg-pulling between the judges Geeta Kapur, Master Marzi and the Bol Bacchan trio as they had all worked with each other in the past.

They all made fun on Marzi for his new-found prowess over Hindi and the bloopers he continues to makes.

In a lighter vein, Jay Bhanushali made a suggestion to Rohit Shetty, saying, “When you make your next sequel to Golmaal, just use Geeta’s picture in the opening credits instead of writing the title. After all, she is Gol and she’s a Maal.”

The trio was in splits.

Ajay Devgn rags Jay Bhanushali

As the host of Zee TV’s DID L’il Masters, Jay Bhanushali has always found himself at the receiving end of the pranks that grandmaster Mithun Chakraborty loves to play on him.

But little did he ever imagine that he would be put up to a series of tasks by visiting guests Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty who were on the show to promote their upcoming film Bol Bachchan.

On hearing Jay’s fibs about how he has taught the best of Bollywood’s action heroes all the stunts and tricks that viewers see them performing in movies, Ajay and Rohit decided to put the big talker to test and took his case in every segment of the episode.

Whether it was imitating Amitabh Bachchan’s kaccha papad, pakka papad from the movie Yaarana or standing upright atop two moving bikes a la Ajay Devgn’s entry in his debut film Phool Aur Kaante, dares and stunts were thrown Jay’s way at every possible opportunity.

For the bike stunt, mischievous Uday and Faisal were only too enthusiastic to find two bicycles that Jay could be asked to stand on. And before anyone could blink an eyelid, they were up on the stage egging Jay on to give it his best shot.

Making matters even worse for poor Jay, Rohit Shetty and Marzi went up on stage and increased the gap between both the bikes.

When Jay finally attempted the stunt, he could only reach both bikes by standing on his toes! Much to his relief, he didn’t fall flat on his face on national television!

In keeping with the mandate from the Grandmasters’ Association, Ajay Devgn, being a dad, took it upon himself to ensure that all the participants on the show ate their vegetables and fruits by bringing them freshly grown veggies from his farmhouse on the outskirts of Mumbai.

While Tanay, Jeet & Shreya received a “lauki”, “kaakdi” and “gaajar” respectively, it was Marzi who walked away with the watermelon for his ‘impeccable’ Hindi which had the contestants and the audience in splits of laughter all through the show.

Bestfriends for life Abhishek Bachchan and Rohan Sippy have decided to take a break from one another. After starring in all the three films that Rohan Sippy has directed (Kuch Na Kaho, Bluffmaster and Dum Maro Dum) Abhishek Bachchan has decided to take a break from all things Sippy.

The actor currently exploring an area beyond his comfort zone working with directors who aren’t necessarily personal friends (e. g Rohit Shetty)has opted out of Rohan Sippy’s next to make way for Ayushmann Khurrana and Kunal Roy Kapoor who will do what appears to be a buddy-buddy film on the lines of Bluffmaster.

Says a source close to the project, “Rohan can’t dream of directing without Abhishek. He wrote his new film with Abhishek in mind to play one of the leads. He wanted to revive the Bluffmaster duo of Abhishek and Riteish Deshmukh. But after Dum Maro Dum Abhishek has done some serious re-thinking. He is not doing the next films of either of his childhood friends Rohan Sippy or Goldie Behl. ”

The new Rohan Sippy film stars the Vicky Donor actor Ayushmann Khurrana with the Delhi Belly actor Kunal Roy Kapoor.

Roy Kapoor had directed the political satire Shall We Tell The President for producer Rohan Sippy 5 years ago.

Confirming the casting Kunal Roy Kapoor said, “It’s a rom-com. I can’t say much more. I am really looking forward to working with Rohan and Ayushmann. ”
