Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' music a 'kool' affair

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum` music a `kool` affair
Music Director: Sachin-Jigar, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Meet Bros Anjjan

Lyricist: Mayur Puri, Kumaar

Singers: Vishal Dadlani, Sonu Nigam, Sukhwinder Singh, Daler Mehndi, Riteish Deshmukh, Neeraj Shreedhar, Kailash Kher, Swaroop, Meet Bros Anjjan

Rating: ***

In 2005, "Kyaa Kool Hai Hum" wrote a new chapter in the genre of comedy films and its much awaited sequel promises to tickle our funny bone once again. One gets a feel of it through the soundtrack of "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" -- a peppy and funny album, totally in sync with the essence of the movie.

The album starts off with "Dil garden garden ho gaya", which has Vishal Dadlani crooning in his high-pitched voice well supported by modern techno sounds. The track has a very youthful touch and is bound to be noticed. It also has a remixed version, which isn't radically different from the original track.

Some electronic beats have been added to the composition, but the remixed song fails to create the desired effect. It's better to stick with the original.

Next up is "Shirt da button". It is an unusual title for a romantic song. The lyrics are a bit comical, but Sonu Nigam's voice carries the track on its shoulder and delivers it with perfection. Sonu has sung it so beautifully that the song touches you instantly.

The use of handclaps to give it a qawwali feel in between also works well for the composition. It also has a second version, albeit in a slower avatar.

The alternate track has been sung by the soulful Kailash Kher in a mellowed down manner. It has more of a qawwali touch, which takes one back to the song "Tu jaane na" from "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani". It's hard to choose the better one here as both the versions are equally compelling and are an absolute treat to the ears.

"Hum toh hain cappuccino (UP-Bihar lootne)" is a twisted version of Shilpa Shetty's famed dance number "UP-Bihar lootne". It has vocals by Daler Mehndi, Sukhwinder Singh, Swaroop and actor Riteish Deshmukh.

The song fills you with nostalgia and instantly grows on you with the array of voices that keep you hooked. The song has a very raw feel and has a surprise as Riteish donned the writer's hat and penned the Marathi lyrics for it.

Next up is an out and out dance number titled "Volume high karle". Sung by NeerajSridhar, the song is high on electronic and techno beats, but the lyrics are very ordinary and the composition deserved a better treatment.

It also has a remixed version, which like the original, falls short of expectations. Even with the addition of powerful beats, it doesn't create the desired effect.

The final verdict - the music of "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" has some highs and lows, but deserves a hear as it manages to lift your 'kool' quotient.

Ekta: 'Kyaa Kool Hai Hum' series is Bollywood's answer to 'American Pie' series

Ekta: `Kyaa Kool Hai Hum` series is Bollywood`s answer to `American Pie` series
She describes "Kyaa Kool Hai Hum" series as Bollywood's answer to "American Pie" series. But Ekta Kapoor is miffed that the censor board has snipped three scenes from the theatrical trailer of "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum". She blames it to existing prejudices in the Hindi film industry.

Anurag Kashyap's "Gangs Of Wasseypur" had coarse and crass language too, but it released without cuts. So what is the hullabaloo around "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum"?

She replied saying, "There's a big difference here. That's Anurag Kashyap - you know how it is. Everything that Balaji (Motion Pictures) does or any mainstream filmmaker does, will always be considered to be cheap and crass."

"If Dibakar (Banerjee) would have made this film, it would have a totally different effect. So we always suffer prejudices in Bollywood, and we just fight constantly, " she added.

The 37-year-old is upset that the censors are not letting the movie's original promos reach the theatres, but she doesn't blame them for double standards either.

"We never had issues in the film's first part. I think our society was so much cooler at that time. Now suddenly everyone raises a question, everyone asks 15 questions. So we have a sanitised, boring promo in the theatre for the ones who will be seeing 'Bol Bachchan', " said Ekta who was in town to show the uncut version of the trailer.

"A-rating programming is allowed on TV after 11 p.m., then also we are not allowed to show anything. There is so much prohibition in society for everything and because anyone can raise a question. Everyone is so scared. I don't blame the censors. They are under so much pressure. People are ready to file a PIL (public interest litigations) against everything... it's really curbing the creativity."

"I thought the first part of my series in 2005 would have to face all this. We are in 2012, for god's sake! It really seems like the world is coming to an end, " she quipped.

But she points out the biggest challenge is that "any kind of double meaning in Hindi sounds crass".

"Very strong research once said that the real problem with our language is that it is so restrictive. The American language has extended itself to slangs and made itself more colloquial, " Ekta observed.

"Hindi has not taken any such extension because of which there has been stagnation in the language. So it is much tougher to write a Hindi comedy with double meaning because we didn't want to go crass, " added the filmmaker, who has produced films like "Love Sex Aur Dhokha", "Ragini MMS" and "The Dirty Picture".

However, she believes the Sachin Yardi-directed movie, releasing July 27, has adult humour in measured amount.

"We wanted to go funny with adult humour. Some portions could probably hurt some sensibilities. But on the whole, the film has tried to keep its humour funny without being offensive, " she said.

Cracking jokes in Hindi is an uphill task "because they sound worse than they sound in English, " said Ekta.

" 'Delhi Belly' was made in English because they clearly realised the power of that language in making things sound much better than they are.

"For us, it has been a struggle to make Hindi a language where double meaning doesn't go into becoming another lowest common denominator and this just turns out to be another film, " said the filmmaker.

She has brought her brother Tusshar Kapoor and actor Riteish Deshmukh together after seven years for the franchise, which hits the screens July 27.

No luck: Sunita Menon turns down a a cameo offer in 'Kya Super Kool Hai Hum'

Tarot card reader Sunita Menon turns down an offer from the actor to do a cameo in 'Kya Super Kool Hai Hum'

Actor Tusshar Kapoor was quite excited when he went to offer his close friend and tarot card reader Sunita Menon to play a small but important cameo in his upcoming sequel with Riteish Deshmukh. However, he never expected that Menon would turn down the offer.

A source informs, “When Tusshar Kapoor learnt that there was a very important scene involving a tarot card reader, he thought that he would bring in his close friend Sunita to do the scene as that would look realistic. He went and met her but she turned him down.

Sunita told him that she was in a very serious profession and did not want to play a character, which would come across as a caricature.” Our source adds that the lady was kind enough to show him some of the ways to go about the character.

Tusshar Kapoor tells us, “Yes, I was keen that Sunita plays a cameo in the film but she was quite clear as to why she did not want to do the film.

However, she showed me how one has to pick the card from their left hand and how the energies work when you read the card, etc. Another actress did the role finally.”

'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' trailer with 'Bol Bachchan'

Posted by Unknown Jumat, 29 Juni 2012 0 komentar

The excitement around 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' is only building up. Balaji has pushed the envelope by releasing multiple trailers of the film. The first was an announcement attached with 'The Dirty Picture' last year. The second 'U/A' trailer was attached with 'Housefull 2' in April and the 'A' trailer with 'Jannat 2'.

The fourth brand new 'U/A' trailer is now being attached with Rohit Shetty's 'Bol Bachchan', releasing next week. As 'Bol Bachchan' has been given a 'U/A' by the CBFC, the trailer of 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' also had to have the same classification.

Balaji is believed to have deleted three naughty scenes and replaced them with other humorous scenes in order to secure a 'U/A'.

The scenes the CBFC objected to include Anupam Kher's spoof on late Satyen Kapoo's character from 'Sholay', Riteish Deshmukh commenting on the female anatomy, and a spoof on John Abraham's production 'Vicky Donor'.

There's no reason to despair though as the controversial uncensored 'A' trailer will be released on the Net on Monday.

Want to do dad's 'Caravan' or 'Farz': Tusshar

Posted by Unknown Kamis, 28 Juni 2012 0 komentar

Actor Tusshar Kapoor feels Ajay Devgn is the right choice for the remake of the 1983 hit "Himmatwala" starring his dad Jeetendra, adding that given a choice, he would like to work on the remakes of his father's "Carvan" or "Farz".

"I would want to do 'Caravan' or 'Farz'. 'Caravan' is more my age, it was a comedy as well," said Tusshar when quizzed, which of his father's film would he like to star in?

Sajid Khan will wield the megaphone for the "Himmatwala" remake.

Tusshar, who worked with Ajay in "Golmaal" series, says he is happy that Ajay is doing it and added: "I have worked with him, I think he is the most appropriate choice for that film. I am happy that a great team like Sajid Khan and Ajay Devgn are bringing back such a big film."

"I am dying to see it and I am sure Ajay will give it his own spin and he'll make it as good as the first, I am sure," said the 35-year-old in an interview.

Tusshar describes "Himmatwala", which also starred Sridevi, as a "trendsetting film".

" 'Himmatwala' is a huge brand, it was a trendsetting film. That film started the trend of heroes and heroines dancing together, people called it P.T. exercise at that time but that trend has been going on for 30 years now. I think 'Himmatwala' is the film where that started," said Tusshar.

One the most famous song from the film is "Nainon mein sapna", which was picturised on Jeetendra and Sridevi.

With Ekta's crores Tusshar-Riteish give Shilpa Shetty a run for her money!

With Ekta`s crores Tusshar-Riteish give Shilpa Shetty a run for her money!
A birdie chirped to say that producer Ekta Kapoor has been spending crores of rupees alone for the sets of the songs in her sex comedy

Wonder how much she has spent on the entire film which stars Riteish Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor!

Giving Shilpa Shetty a run for her money!

'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' just got hotter! With 'Dil Garden Garden' and 'Shirt Da Button' already topping the charts, the forthcoming third track promises to heighten the film's existing noise level!

The curvaceous Shilpa Shetty's chartbuster, 'UP Bihar Lootne' ('Shool') will feature in the film but not in its original form! There's a twist here, as the lead pair Tusshar and Riteish Deshmukh will gyrate to Shilpa's 'thumkas' in a specially created male version of the track, choreographed by the veterans Rekha and Chinni Prakash, whose recent work in 'Ishaqzaade' had everyone spellbound.

Titled 'Hum Toh Hain Cappuccino' by lyricist Kumaar, the Meet Brothers Anjjan have recreated Shilpa's chartbuster (by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) to make it even more commercial and club-friendly!

Last weekend, an elaborate dhaba set, which cost over 2 cr, was set up at Mumbai's Film City where Tusshar and Riteish shot for the track with leading ladies Sarah-Jane Dias and Neha Sharma.

Says producer Ekta Kapoor, "Our team debated extensively on the choice of track before we arrived at 'U.P. Bihar Lootne'!

It's not just another run-of-the-mill item number that you see these days! It is supremely quirky, funny and signature super kool, which goes very well with the tone of the film! The boys have completely outdone themselves and the track promises to take the hype around the film to a new level!"

Poised to become the new dance anthem post its release on July 5, the track has a promotion plan as unique as the track itself. Ekta plans to give it the widest possible viewership across a single evening by revealing it on Balaji's four consecutive leading prime-time soaps ('Pavitra Rishta', 'Parichay', 'Kya Hua Tera Vaada' & 'Bade Acche Lagte Hain'), something which has never been done before.

The track will also be the front-runner for the film's promotion in North India, and particularly, in Delhi, U.P. & Bihar, where Riteish and Tusshar, in a rustic get-up, will tour the cities in an open truck with the track blaring from the loudspeaker.

Trust Balaji to make the 'koolest' moves for their films!

The retro-kool track from Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum is the latest B-town anthem to rule the airwaves!

In less than a day of its online launch, the now chartbusting ‘Dil Garden Garden’ track from Balaji’s forthcoming sex-com ‘Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum’, was trending nationwide on Twitter, and for a few hours, even worldwide.

The deliciously colorful video inspired by the Austin Power series, choreographed by Bosco-Caesar, lauded for its color and gusto, grabbed more than 3 Lac hits on Youtube in just two days.

According to the report dated 15th June by leading film-tracking company, Foresight, since the launch of ‘Dil Garden Garden’, the Spontaneous Recall of the film jumped dramatically by 78.9% over the previous week’s statistics while the people who definitely plan to watch the film jumped 32.1% from the earlier week. There was a jump of 58. 8% in the people who definitely plan to watch the film in its opening weekend.

Director-Producer Karan Johar’s tweet, “Crazy... whacky and superkool song from Kyaa superkool hain hum!!!! KSKHH.... watch it!!! It’s loads of fun!!!!” was echoed by a wide cross-section of the industry and countrywide fans.

Its lyricist Mayur Puri attributed the success of the track to its composers Sachin and Jigar who stumbled upon the popular phrase in a Ludhiana dhaba when they heard a man praising the lassi by saying, “Dil Garden Garden Ho Gaya”.

The funky Vishal (of Vishal-Shekhar), who has sung the uber-kool track, has been inundated with messages from fans, DJs and show organizers ever since the launch. “People seem to have gone nuts about it, and some, because of it, ” he laughs. “Always good to be a part of a big hit!”

Music magnate Bhushan Kumar said, “We are thrilled to have received such a fabulous response to the song. It has been picking up at phenomenal speed and we look forward to releasing the rest of the album at the soonest. ”

The success of the track was best summed up by Anupam Kher in his tweet: “Jai Ho!”
